Coal handling solutions for Drax Power Station

Philford has designed, installed and commissioned two major coal-handling systems for Drax Power Station.

Drax – the largest coal fired power station in Europe, generating 4,000 MW of electricity for the UK – commissioned Philford to develop equipment for removing metallic foreign bodies from its coal supply.

Two systems incorporating over-belt magnets have been designed and are working well. Further environmental projects, involving coal handling and alternative fuel supply systems into the station, are currently in development.
