Case Studies: Biomass Feeder and Blending System

Philford is involved in the power industry’s moves towards alternative renewable fuels. We were contracted by Drax Power Station to design, manufacture and install a large ‘blending’ system to mix bio-mass with coal. The design incorporated feeder conveyors for the two fuels, delivering into a holding hopper. A 900mm centres chain conveyor mounted in the base of the hopper delivered the blended fuel to the furnaces. This plant is now installed and working very successfully.
